Course Objectives
Objective of the course is to know the oil medium. Applicaton of oil colours on oil sketching papers. To begin with Oil sketching papers are used as this surface is cheaper compare to canvas board or canvas cloth. How to start oil painting with linseed oil. Why turpentine is used in oil painting. What care is to take for making brushes long lasting. To know why to start from darker shade to lighter shade. Acrylic painting is done on handmade paper & on canvas. Comparative knowledge of using of both the mediums. Why oil paints take longer time to dry compare to Acrylic colours.
This course is of 10 sessions. It is designed in such a way to know the characteristics of colours, their consistency, uses of oil mediums i.e. linseed oil & turpentine. Variety of brushes available. Generally hog hair brushes are used for oil painting. Work starts from darker tone to lighter tone. Oil painting is done by application of layers of colours. Next layer of colour is applied after drying of first layer. Faculty shows all these to participant, which participants in turn does in the course.
Course Contents
- 1st session - Demonstration is given on how to use colours on oil papers. Shading effect mixing of colours is shown. Then participants are shown how to go for landscaping.
- 2nd, 3rd session - Landscapes are taught.
- 4th sessions - Still life is taught. Still life means some object are kept in front of the members with drapery and the painting is done with shade & light effect.
- 5th session - Nature drawing by keeping flowers with leaves & stem.
- 6th sessions - Introduction of Acrylic colours & its applications as water colour & oil colours.
- 7th session - Outdoor – Nature drawing e.g. Flowers, trees etc. what we see in nature.
- 8th, 9th session – Outdoor landscape painting in Arcylic colours with prespective aspect and composition aspects.
- 10th Session - Abstract Painting in the class.

Faculty
Raosaheb Gurav
Raosaheb Gurav has done his diploma in painting from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalay, Pune.in 1970. He was faculty member of Abhinav kala Mahavidyalay. He retired as a Principal of the college. During his over 30 years of teaching experience he has developed many well known Artist under his guidence. He is versatile in both water & oil mediums. His recent paintings in shepherd series were highly appreciated. He has many one man shows at different Galleries from the country and abroad. He has participated in many group shows also. His painting is in na prestgeous museum near Satara city. To upcoming Artist he teaches with simple techniques both in water and Oil medium.

Prasad Kulkarni
Prasad Kulkarni has done G. D. Art in painting from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya pune, in 1993 and is good figurative work. Has good hold in oil, acrylic as well as water colour medium. He has taken part in many group exhibitions. He has taken part in many exhibitions such as V. V. Oak exhibition, State Art Exhibitions, Bombay Art Society, Art Society India. His taken part in many art camps. He has many awards to his credit. Collection of his paintings are with many buyers in different cities from India.

Nilesh Pawar
Nilesh Pawar has done G.D. painting from Raheja School of Art, Bandra. He has also done diploma in Art Education and Art teachers. He handles all the mediums equally well. He keeps experimentise on different subjects & styles and achieves desired effect. His style of paintings are liked by viewers & buyers. He has taken part in many group shows in Mumbai, Dubai, U. S., U. K., South Africa. Until how he has 7 solo shows to his credit in different cities in India. His paintings are with many collections. He has many awards to his credit, such as South Central Zone, Art Society of India, Camel Art Foundation, State & Bombay Art Society.
He was selected by Camel Art foundation for Euro-tour, to visit different Art museums from Europe.
